Takuma Hanawa was born in 1947 in Hachioji City in the larger Tokyo area. In 1972 he graduated from the famous Musashino Art College. He had learned woodblock printmaking from Mr. Shirodokoro. In 1973 he came to France for further art studies. He remained for two years. Since then the ties of Mr. Takuma Hanawa with France and other parts of Europe have been kept alive. And it is obvious that his art studies and his experience with life in France has a strong influence on the artist's subjects and style.
Takuma Hanawa is a member of Japan Print Association. He has contributed to the annual art exhibitions organized by Japan Print Association since 1975.
In 1979 and in 1981 the artist returned to France. In 1982 he visited the United States and Mexico. And in 1985 he came to Marocco, Spain and Portugal.
